Competency And Marketability Of Faculty Of Islamic Studies’ Students, Kolej Universiti Islam Perlis: A Survey Of The Students’ Perception While Undergoing Industrial Training

This study aims to examine students’ perception in undergoing industrial training as a career preparation to meet the competency and marketability of Faculty of Islamic Studies, Kolej Universiti Islam Perlis (KUIPs). The study aims to be the main mould that needs to be shaped according to the current career aspects of the industry. Graduates should have the competence and skills in their careers to increase their competitiveness and abilities. University play a role in producing skilled graduates and possess human capital as graduates’ personal potential in preparing for their career to meet the needs of the industry. This study is a quantitative study that uses questionnaire as the research instrument. A survey was conducted on 16 industries from various sectors as well as the same number of respondents; 16 students from 6 different programs of study at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Kolej Universiti Islam Perlis in the February 2022 session. The questions that were asked revolved around significant levels related to the level of achievement and the current needs of the students undergoing industrial training. The results of this survey found that there are several aspects of the course that need to be added or improved during the student’s period of study in order to meet the criteria of the industry. In addition, a percentage of 81.3% on the scope of tasks and 93.8% on the career-related exposure given by the industry to students as evidence of the initial preparation required in the career realm is closely related to the student’s field of study. Furthermore, the industry’s demand for students to have digital skills should be provided by the Faculty of Islamic Studies, KUIPs. The results of the study also showed that the industrial training program in the final semester of the study has a good impact on the personality and ethics that are shown based on soft skills, as well as the applied human capital during students’ industrial training has given a positive impact on the marketability of KUIPs Faculty of Islamic Studies students.
